Why do my contacts give me conflicting amounts on my phone?

lets see if i can ask this correctly.
when i choose to view all contacts i have 2308
when i choose to view the ones that are synced with my oulook.com account i get 1851 (when i go to outlook.com i see 1860 contacts)
when i choose to view the ones that are synced with outlook on my computer (its not linked to my outlook.com account but just a backup of my phone from bb link sync) i get 1683

if someone can explain to me what is going on and how i can have 2308 contacts in all three places (ill figure out how to get rid of the doubles another time) i would greatly appreciate it.

Do you have your Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc accounts on your phone? This is what is the major difference between my phone and say Gmail. Those accounts will not sync with your mail system, unless they are one in the same.

No. The only account on my phone is the outlook.com one ( I have several gmail accounts but those do not sync the addresses)
