When I got my Q10, I used to see the SD card and device memory as drives on my Windows 7 computer, using the original device settings for the phone (without changing any settings in "Access using Wifi" or "USB mass storage"). Now, I don't see them, even if I turn on both of them.

One possible cause is that I was trying to set up and use EasyTether (both BB and Android versions, which I never got to work and I have removed from both phone & PC). I do not recall changing anything else.

Any suggestions? Is this a problem in the phone settings, in the Windows Device drivers? Help!

Do you have BlackBerry Link installed on your computer?

Yes. It is installed but I don't keep it running all the time or in the background. Is this necessary?

Try launching it and see if it connects to your BlackBerry. If it doesn't, try deleting and reinstalling it to make sure it's not a driver issue.

Thanks. It is working at times. Here are 2 things I found out:

    (1) one of the tethering programs seems to have change the device setting from Link from "Use Mobile Network" from "Off" to "On" (unless it was originally off).

    (2) I can see the SD and Flash memory only if I connect the USB cable directly to the computer. Connecting it to a USB hub does not work anymore (it used to work before).

I seem to have solved the problem, but I am still puzzled. I will try removing and re-installing Link.

The key seems to be that I have to do the USB connection directly to the computer (not through a USB hub). Strange!
