As of September 9th I have been unable to maintain a signal for more than five minutes and that is throughout random locations in nyc. The phone will connect to T-mobile's network but my antenna will say emergency calls only. When I manually search for a network, whenever T-mobile does show up, it shows as my home network but when I click it, it says it shows SOS. Ive rebooted the phone, I've tried someone else's sim card and still no service. It's been 5 days now. Anyone else have or had this issue?

Try reloading your OS and buy a new Sim card.

Did you switch to an other carrier recently, and started experiencing problems. If so go back to the previous carrier, since they provide a better signal. I had the same problem with my Z30. I was with Wind Mobile, and kept getting bad communication, dropped calls garbled calls. Then I switched to an other carrier, and everything works amazing now. So it may not be the phone, it's probably the carrier has dead spots or not enough coverage. So before you toss away your phone confirm if it's a carrier related issue or a bad phone. I see this a lot, and most of the time its just a plain crappy service not the phone. The passport has a paratek antenna, so i doubt it's the phone or sim card. An other way to find out is do you know someone else that has the same carrier as you, then check or ask if they rare experiencing problems. That's how i found out about why my phone was acting up.

The new radio versions suck. You'll have to revert to an older radio version.

This has been broken forever and blackberry hasn't fixed it. Oh well, guess they don't want my money anymore.

I had the same issue. Put my sim in another phone and no problems. Turned out my BlackBerry was broken and i sent it away to be repaired. Two weeks later i got a brand new Passport because the old one couldn't be fixed.

I am experiencing the same problem, and have to come to the conclusion that my Passport is broken. Changed SIM (same provider), updated OS, rebooted, and so on. Tried everything in the book. AAt this moment I am switching back to my old iPhone 5 because I want people to be able to reach me.
Hope my vendor will replace my Passport as well...

Hi! I had similar issue on my Passport SE. My SIM would work but without data connection. When I put somebody else's SIM the data will work. I approached the carrier and replaced the SIM. Now all is history.
The SIM had issues as I had myself cut it at home from Micro SIM to Nano SIM. Trust it will solve your issue. If it doesn't just reload the software.

Hi , in my case there is either no connection to the mobile network at all, or a very bad connection that keeps being disconnected whenever I hold the phone to my ear. When I put the SIM in other phones (iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S5) there was a perfect connection. My provider KPN checked the signal in the neighbourhood of my house and said there was no loss of signal from their part.
When the performance of the Passport got worse over the last two weeks, I was pretty convinced already that mine was having an issue. After having tried all possible solutions (including yours) I now know for sure that in my case the Passport is broken.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please contact your retailer coz your device is still under warranty. I am sure you will get the replacement. Cheers!

It's a radio file problem. If you reinstall the radios (OS version number +1) it is solved. Give it a try, it worked for me!
