What do you mean by the menu doesn't work?
Is it not sliding left and right?
Also the z10 does have bad battery life (some models are better than others), it's recommended to turn off things like Data Services (Settings-Network and Connections-Mobile Network), Wifi and Bluetooth when not in use, also turn down the screen brightness.
