STL100-4 is a CDMA device, Vodafone/Airtel are GSM carriers in India.
While is does have GSM capacity, it appears only the 1800mhz band is common with data on the device to the Vodafone/Airtel cell towers.

It appears the best data connection you can get is EDGE.
