Who names TCL designed devices, is it BlackBerry or TCL?
Does BlackBerry only put in the software and brand on these devices?

TCL now controls BlackBerry hardware sales.... no the KeyOne is a BlackBerry design that TCL is using, going forward they will be TCL designs. As for the name... who knows when and where it came into existence.

BlackBerry is basically just a software company, along with licensing IP.

When BlackBerry asked TCL to build the K1, TCL chose the Mercury code name. After BlackBerry licensed TCL to sell BlackBerry branded devices, TCL chose KEYone as the official name for the production version.

New BlackBerry branded phones will be designed, built and sold by TCL through TCL's BlackBerry Mobile. BlackBerry will supply their secure version of the Android OS along with the BlackBerry suite of Android apps.

I don't think TCL came up with Mercury. Didn't Steve say that it had different origins, of which he doesn't know which one is actually the case? I could be wrong though.

All of the TCL devices so far have had element codenames (Argon/DTEK60, Neon/DTEK50, Mercury/KEYone), although there is some curious overlap between TCL and BlackBerry over the DTEK50: it's simultaneously the Neon (TCL-style) or the Hamburg (BlackBerry-style), and its model number is STH100-x (like previous BlackBerry devices) as opposed to BBx100-x like the others.
