    Simply put: WhatsApp will no longer work on BB10 devices after 31/12/2016 but will however continue to work and get updates on BlackBerry Android devices like Priv, DTEK50 and DTEK60.
    So, you either upgrade your BB10 device to a blackberry android device or you just go for other brands.

    Use Android app and it will work after 2017. There is even a fix to allow you send media. Just search the forum.

    No one knows yet if the android version will work after 31/12/2016.
    And the fix you talked about no longer exists.

    The android app should continue to work (with possible bugs or glitches) as mentioned by the WhatsApp developer

    'Probable bugs and glitches' as it's an android app at end of the day.
