Apologies if this question is stupid, but since BlackBerry Internet Service will be discontinued at some point (my provider shuts it down next month), will I still be able to use my BB OS 6 device?
Until now, I could not set up my email account without this plan, but maybe blackberry will "unlock" it once they discontinue the service? Or will I simply not be able to access my mails from that point onwards? That would be a nightmare...

Once BIS is retired, there will be no real utility for any BBOS devices. Compound that with many carriers shutting down their 2G and 3G networks in favour of using the spectrum for LTE and the life cycle for BBOS gets even smaller.

That sucks. Sounds like you have no option but to get a new phone.

I also did wonder if BB would release a software update that lets BBOS phones work over regular internet, but this is BB - so the answer is obviously no.
