    Double check to see if you have a current version of BBM on the device.
    If you had been trying out leaked OS's, you may have loaded a bundled BBM that is older than the Timed Messages and Retract Messages features.

    The ability to Retract a message is now within the Delete Message dialog when you long press a message you sent and the Option's dialog slides over, tap Delete Message and follow the dialog.
    Timed messages are via Chat and not Group, it's the icon next to the slot you type your message in that has the Send Message symbol with a stop-watch face in it. Tap it and it brings up the timer options.
