There are several factors here. First off, the Curve 9360 must be compatible with your carrier. Most 9360 will work with most GSM / HSPA carriers, but not with CDMA carriers.

Second, legacy BBOS devices like the Curve 9360 require a BlackBerry-specific data plan called BIS (for BlackBerry Internet Service). They won't work with a regular data plan.

Call your carrier and ensure you are on a BB data plan.

Many thanks for your reply. I have a BIS plan from my carrier. In fact, it was active on my old curve 8520 which is not working now and hence i replaced it with this new 9360. But when I go to the host routing table and click on register now, i get a message saying message sent, but nothing happens after that.
