I just bought a new bb classic smartphone and I am having hard time transferring contacts. If I take the sim card out of my q10 and insert it into my bb classic, can I import the contacts from the sim card onto my new phone?

The best i have found is contactx from BBW, save to s/d card then put into new phone ,get the app again and download.

Easiest way to transfer Local Contacts is using Device Switch in BlackBerry Link. I believe local Contacts is included in Settings category of Backup/Restore as well.

I don't use the SIM card for my contacts, but yes I believe that may work too.

In addition to the ContactX app mentioned above, I've used Backup Pro before. Backup Pro worked fine for my Contacts but didn't restore my Text messages properly.
(I don't care for the dev of ContactX personally.)

I have tried many ways to get contacts to transfer. the contacts have a different file name that seems to not be recognized by bb link. error message, "your device data inst compatible with your current softeware" or something like that.

User device switch or back them up with one of your email accounts and sync them that way.
