Is there a way to organise apps on the screen that doesn't auto snap to the next space in the grid?

I was a BB Torch owner but didn't download many apps at the time. I've just bought a BB Passport after one too many fights with Swype on a Samsung Galaxy S4. Vive la keyboard!

I digress... on the Galaxy you can arrange apps, for example four to a page, one in each corner. With the Passport I find that when you add an app to a page it will queue in the next available slot on the grid, align top, align left.

This is kinda frustrating as I'd like to arrange each page different according to use e.g. communication page with contacts, phone, message shortcut on one line, web communications services like Skype, WhatsApp etc on another line, social networks on another line � but not all of these lines are 5 icons long. Any suggestions?

only way you can do that is to add a third party app like blank icon or home screen plus and create blank placeholders that force your icons to the positions where you want them. otherwise, no. they don't follow a grid like Samsung.

Would folders be a better solution than mainly empty screens?

Homescreen Pimp from BlackBerry world is free. It adds blank icons so you can arrange your icons however you like, 4 on a screen, 2 on a screen. Adding blank icons is about as close as we are going to get for a personalized home screen. This is mine...
