So I need to know how do I go about unlocking my Z10 from Telus to Rodgers, so that my lil bro can give BB10 a try . went over a lot of the features with him last night just a few of the basics and he seemed happy, a long time Isheep I'm hopping he will give it a honest try as it is a awesome phone.

You'll need to get the unlock code. You can ask the carrier (Telus) first, but there are probably cheaper alternatives out there: BlackBerryCodeSource, QuickPhoneUnlock, CellUnlock.net, etc. You could also try shops/kiosks in local malls.

I haven't used any of them. BBCS seems to have good customer service (including here in the forums) and QPU seems to be one of the cheaper options.

Well wouldn't you know Telus was kind enough to help me out and unlocked it for free! After I freaked out about there brutal price they wanted to do it 35 bucks, so she talked to super and got it for free happy happy!

So now that the Z10 is unlocked, is it not true that I should be able to get the latest is update before the carrier gets it?? I did a check and nothing came up? Any ideas

No. A locked phone later unlocked is still considered a branded phone. It does not help in getting carrier-free updates sooner.

But what it does is allow you to put in a SIM card from a carrier that may have pushed an update out. So if, for example, Bell puts out an update for the Z10, you can pop in a Bell SIM, do a search for an update, and then download it.

No, not really. It just allows you to use the phone on more carriers. That's it.

K so now the Z10 is all unlocked and stuff and I'll probably do a full wipe before I let my brother have it, he has some concerns how does he get all his I crap over to the BlackBerry, ie the music stuff. That device switch app should do the trick eh. I've had a good time with it

If this is music he has purchased from the dumpster known as iTunes, I believe it saves the files in the Music>iTunes folder (Windows 7/8.) The rest I have no idea how he could extract. There used to be a trick years ago to unhide all the music on iPods, but the file names would be nonsensical carefully and schematically chosen by Apple.

I think if you install link it synchs with your itunes library and will let you move your songs to it.
