I would say it's ok if you like it. I liked the older OS, just not too sure about updates and support. I see people using the Curve from Nextel in Mexico and still enjoy it. My boss had one and I liked using it whenever he asked me to set something up for him or whatever else he needed help with.
The only issue is how long BIS will be supported by your particular carrier.
