Assuming you are on a GSM carrier, if you remove your SIM card, you will be without service. So no phone calls, text messages, or data through the carrier.

You put SIM card back in, you are back on the carrier network. The Q10 is not a phone which allows for hot swapping as the placement of the battery does not allow for extraction and insertion of the SIM card while the battery is in its place.

You have a sim card that was removed and reinserted in BlackBerry q10.

Care to be specific? Was was that really the question?

Assuming you are talking about a phone that allows for hot swap extractions (i.e. SIM trays,) you will lose your connection to the carrier. And I think if you put the SIM card back in, it won't be detected until you reboot your phone.

Try it if you feel brave enough

If you think it's going to get you an OTA OS update, it won't.

On Z30 you have to enter your SIM PiN(if you have one).

    Ohhhhh!!!

IF you have a factory unlocked phone, take the SIMcard out (reboot), hook to WiFi and check for updates. IF you find one, update, let it reboot again and THEN put the SIM back in.

See how important it is to state your issue properly?

Will only work for factory unlocked devices though.

If you have a factory unlocked Q10 you can try, but it doesn't seem to be necessary anymore--factory unlocked phones are getting the update regardless of whether the SIM card is in or not.

Also, if you're in Europe, the update may not have gone out there anyways. That's what I'm understanding from some comments to the CB article about this update.
