The short right side bar would normally opens when I short pressed a message and then I was able to choose a 'Select More' icon at the bottom of the side bar. Now the full side bar over rides the small right side bar when I short press a message (in email or FB).

Yes. Because most of the symbols on the side bar never actually meant anything to anyone. I'm glad I can now understand what they are lol
