    It's safe to install .apk files but some aren't as safe as most.

    If you're on BlackBerry 10.3+, it has a feature called BlackBerry Guardian which scans the .apk file you're trying to install for male are and viruses.

    oh is that so? so i dont need to install additional safety programs like antivirus and such if i'm on Blackberry 10.3+? because i'm planning to buy the passport and am really interested in it.

    No, other programs aren't required (or useful) on a BB 10 device.

    Go for the Passport! I heard people are loving it.

    And yes, BlackBerry Guardian from 10.3 has you covered, but remember to have common sense and a general idea about the apps and the developers and make sure they don't have history of installing malware on devices.

    Don't worry too much about it, though. BlackBerry is known for secure devices, but that feature isn't to be overlooked.
