I initially inserted the media card and it was working fine. I was able to transfer a couple of files. After transferring a second batch of files I rebooted my Z10. Since then, my phone says that the media card is unrecognized and can't erase nor format the media card. Please help me.

First, make sure the SD card was properly set up to begin with for the Z10, see:

If it still acts up after setting it up as above, then you may have a defective card.
Some 32gb and 64gb SanDisk SD card had a manufacturing defect, this was found out mid 2013 and persisted for several months until sanDisk rolled out fixed versions.

SanDisk says it produced some bad 32GB and 64GB microSD cards

As of 10.3.1.11xx leaks, you no longer need to format to FAT32. exFAT works fine.
