Just got my factory z30 sta100-5 which has the 10.2. What with all problems I've been reading about, why not just stay where I am and enjoy a problem free phone? And probably a 50/50 chance of remaining problem free if I upgrade to 10.3?

No one is talking about 10.1, 10.2, or 10.2.1 now. That doesn't mean there weren't any problems with them. I started with 10.2 a couple of years ago, I've done all the official updates as they became available and haven't had any problems.

It's called an upgrade because it brings improvements like Device Monitor, battery saving features, and a tonne of others. It'd be in your best interest to upgrade especially with some BlackBerry World apps needing 10.3 as minimum to run

Thanks for input. Which would be the most stable of the 10.3 upgrades? Maybe 10.3.2.2813?

.2876 is fine as long as you install the Android Runtime update from BlackBerry World.

I wish that I had stayed with 10.2 instead of "upgrading" to a build that brought with it problems.

Halifax, is there a way to wipe your phone and return to the original out of the box?

No, you cannot return to 10.2.x.xxxx because of the security changes in the OS. Blackberry Protect etc.

I wish I had never gone to 10.3, it ruined my wifi and my network signal, the battery is worse and it's slower

Thank you. Alright then. I need to ask what safe steps I can take to begin updating my Z30 STA100-5 which now has an out of the box 10.2.1 build?

Go here: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...rchive-943672/ to find an autoloader for your device. Download the correct version for your model # onto your PC desktop. Then plug your SE into your PC, click on the autoloader .exe file and you will have a new OS installed in about 10-15 minutes.

Oh, and a guide to using an autoloader is here: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...loader-927076/

It is much, much easier than it sounds. The key is getting the CORRECT autoloader!

Have a problem brookie. Dont have a pc to follow instructions with uploader. Is there a chance I will have success by using my separate wifi hotpot, downloading, and installing latest update onto the handset? Also quite a jump from 10.2.1.xxxx to the current build.

Yes, the phone should naturally download it over a Wi-Fi connection unless you set it not to download automatically. So just connect it to a Wi-Fi network and viola! You have a new OS

Brother, can you guarantee I'll have a trouble free experience after that new os? Fat chance? Thanks for your reply my friend.

you'll naturally experience teething problems but once the OS settles on the phone, you're good to go. my z10 took it like that piece of cake. But if you're doing it for me then don't, after all its your phone.

Unfortunately, there is no going back. If there was, I would be there.

Sorry, no. You need a PC to use the autoloader.

Try your phone on 10.2 for a while THEN decide if it's worth the upgrade to 10.3.

10.3.2 2813 is a pretty good build although I hear the ear piece volume isn't as good as the 10.2 builds.

Rusty, I'll take your advice. Never heard of so many issues on these handsets. And I had a bb 9310 that was great. The mystery to me is that some have a smooth problem free transition through the updates while others on the same device lose sound quality, have connectivity issues, camera glitches, slow downs, etc. Thanks.

Thank you. The biggest issue I have experienced after moving from 10.2 was the great reduction of the notification volume. I work in a fairly noisy environment and I can not hear any of the notifications. I have tried numerous 'solutions' but stopped short of increasing every tone/sound/ringtone volume levels individually.

That's my point again. On one bb the sound's too low, and on the other too loud.
