    I have a Q10.

I did a backup via BB link. Phone (Q10) died. Got a new (Q10) phone.

How do I install my backup onto the new phone?

I don't think it's possible because of encryption difference (!?)

What is it you're trying to restore specifically?

Yes but back up what? Files, contacts, apps....what is it you're specifically trying to achieve?

Ok, so why not transfer the files directly from your old phone to the PC, and then move them across to the new one?

As far as contacts is concerned, that's a little more problematic if they're not backed up already, but you could upload them to an Outlook.com or Google Contacts, and then download them directly on to the new one.

Seems better than spending ages trying to figure out what's gone wrong.

As I said, the old phone died, gave it back in and got a replacement.

You're not making sense. If the phone has died completely, what do you expect to be able to do with it? Either you've backed it up previously or you haven't.

I want the information, backup files, from the old phone, for my new phone.

I back it up before it broke. I backed it up using BB link,.

    What's not clear?

Because you said you are trying to back up from your old phone. You aren't, you're trying to back up from Link. OK, that's fine. So all you should need to do is set up a new device on Link and then restore from backup.

Sorry I should have been more clear.

It set up a new device automatically. But with this new device it doesn't see a backup to restore.

You've started two threads on this I see. Probably best if it's on one, so I won't reply here; I've just noticed you're getting advice on the other one. You'll get there....

You can use the same back up to reload into new Q10. But use the same BlackBerry ID to download. That is key! I have had my backed up info in my Z10 (lost it) into Z30.
