    I'm planning to buy the Q10 on my next trip to US since it's quite a bit cheaper there.

    However, what is available in US is the SQN100-1 or SQN100-5 variants while the SQN100-3 is sold in India.

    So my question is: Will the SQN100-1 or SQN100-5 work fine on the GSM/3G networks in India?

    Yes, it will. You need UMTS band 2100, which is present in all Q10s. So buy any model except the SQN100-4.
