The password asks for either your password, or to type BlackBerry.

Just type whichever one it asks for...

Only the correct password is going to unlock the phone. Passwords are case sensitive. Any error will return the message you report.

The phone asks to type "BlackBerry" then asks fthe password. When it asks for BlackBerry it's not counting towards your 10 trials. As far as the files go, if she misses they're toasted. That's the thing with security... it works both ways.

If her files are on the memory card, can't it be removed before continuing to prevent it being wiped?

Files on the memory card will not be wiped, but to be certain one can always remove the memory card. Unless, that is, they are encrypted. You can only un-encrypt the SD card in the phone in its original state -- and if you wipe the phone you cannot un-encrypt the card.

BTW, it asks you to type "Blacberry" to be sure you do not have cap lock stuck on etc.

Correction it asks you to type BlackBerry in order to distinguish between accidental key presses and valid user input.

Just wondering--what would have happened had she been on 10.3.2+ and had Blackberry Protect on? Toast for good?
