I've always used a touch screen phone but am wanting to try a blackberry phone. I've looked at every model there is (old and new) and the 9720 looks like the keys are separated well and would be easy to type with. However, I've looked on the 9720 forum and it looks like it shuts off frequently. I'm wondering if the battery isn't quite large enough and needs a little something (like a tiny piece of paper) inserted underneath it so that the battery stays in place? Anyway I could use some help deciding which phone is the easiest to text with and anything else about the 9720 that would help my decision! Thank you so very much!

9720 is ancient hardware/outdate software. If you fell in love with the keyboard there, here is your solution:

The BlackBerry Q5 can run the latest BlackBerry 10.3.1 OS and has pretty much the same keyboard.

But in truth I tell you. All BlackBerry Keyboards are good. ALL OF THEM.

    Even the Passport's. o.O

Forget BlackBerry OS. Go get yourself a BlackBerry 10 device like a BlackBerry Classic or Q5/Q10 if pricing is a concern.

Any BlackBerry is a good answer. If you've never had a physical keyboard, you may or may not be more efficient with it. If you're able, try to find a store with both physical and virtual keyboards. It's all a matter of preference and really, you can't go wrong with either. Just be certain it's a BlackBerry 10 model.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the keyboard problems on the Q10. Many Q10s have serious double typing issues where you press a key and it registers twice so your ssentennces eend uup loookiing liike thiis. Very irritating. I have a Passport now and I absolutely love it. No keyboard problems.

    Passport has huge keys.

But it is funny, even on the tiny bbos phones, you only type with a very tiny part of your thumb. It is kind of amazing.

The Classic/Q10 have the most ideal physical keyboards. I'd recommend those. As for virtual, the Z30 because it's the same as all the other touch devices, but bigger and more responsive.

I had a Q10 for almost a year and it worked flawlessly... until it didn't! Started duplicating some letters and adding an 'a' to end of each word. Anyway I finally had to replace the device with another Q10 and so far so good. Sometimes tech just goes bad. I have friends who have gotten iphone lemons as well...

The second revision Q10 isn't supposed to have double typing problems.
