Unlike other devices I've used, my Mac (10.10.4) doesn't see my new Z30 as a USB storage even though it's connected via USB cable. That is to say, it's not listed as a local device in the finder, and there is no icon of it on the desktop that I can simply eject or drag into the waste basket to accomplish the same. Rather, the BB can be found only in the finder listed as an IP address under "shared" media section, next to the other computers in the household that happen to be on and connected to the wifi... So the question is, can I just unplug the BB without any sort of ejection after it's done syncing? (I'm sure most people with BB 10 and Mac have been through this issue.)

Not quite answering the question. Since your device is showing up as network drives you don't have to worry about disconnecting before disconnecting.
