    Genaral web viewing?
    youtube?
    HD Movie playback?
    Light Gaming?
    Graphic heavy gaming?

I've entered the examples in what I think are a descending order of difficulty. I'd also be curious at which point a HDMI direct cable would be a better choice.

You are better off with a cable for gaming, no matter how good the device and miracast adapter are, a cable will always have less delay. Delay is crucial when it comes to gaming.

For everything else, miracast is an awesome feature.

What FrankIam said. There is a good 1/4 to half second delay. Useless for games. It is kinda fun to slap the "desktop" of my Zed 30 on my TV via Miracast, it is only fully useful for playing back media. The quality is impressive as is the ease of use. I just bought a new 4k tube, with a built in wifi adapter. The only thing I needed to do was grant the TV access. After that, any time you see the "share to" option -the TV slurps it up.

Perfect for video, music and photos.
