I understand where the volume buttons are... they work. I know where settings are too. But I am unable to get more volume when on phone calls. I have yet to get a firm answer on this issue. To use the hearing speaker, I have to place all calls on speaker...it is a pain. Iss it a Passport problem? Is it me? Is there no quick answer for this?

No problems with any volume on my passport.
Test your speakers and audio with BBVE.
In Phone settings you may need to adjust treble/bass output to default.
Do you have any media or audio apps which may have hijacked your audio output?
Start with BBVE, if all checks out hard reboot device, if that fails then try a reload/update of OS.
