- Since the day that I traded up to a BB10 phone, I have been trying to get it to behave the way I want -- which is exactly the way that the old BB OS used to behave. I have no desire to use a universal Inbox like the Hub; that is simply not the way I work. Part of this is the fact that I don't use any social media channels, including BBM, so the number of discrete accounts I need access to boils down to a couple of personal personal email accounts (one at a minimum), a couple of business accounts (again, one at a minimum), and SMS.
So what I want is to see separate, dedicated icons on my phone's desktop for these different accounts -- just like the BB OS used to do. When one of these individual accounts were to receive an inbound message, a splat would be added to that account's dedicated icon -- just like the BB OS used to do. And then I suppose I could use the Hub to display all those annoying Notifications that I am currently not displaying anywhere.
I know that I could install multiple 3rd-party POP clients, and configure each one for a separate email account, and then use the Hub for SMS. But then I lose all the advantages of the native mail client -- and of course for a BES account, that would be a horrible loss of functionality. So I really want a way for the OS to behave the way I want it to.
It won't, though; will it? I'm SOL, aren't I?Plazmic Flame likes this.09-29-14 11:57 AMLike 1 -
- The "workaround" is to not own a bb10 phone. If its biggest and best feature does not work for you, then look elsewhere.

- Why don't you just remove every account from showing up in the unified part of the hub. Then you just have each one show up separately on the 'root menu' when you tap on the three lines (lower left corner). That's what my wife does, and she just leaves the 'root menu' open (exits back to the home page by swiping up). Whenever she swipes to the hub... the root menu shows up and she can see which one has new messages.Thunderbuck likes this.09-29-14 12:09 PMLike 1
- I think for the vast majority of people people, the time savings of checking a universal inbox for all inbound messaging would be a preference. Is there some specific reason why you want to separate out your inbound notifications? Or do what the previous poster said.09-29-14 12:10 PMLike 0
- The hub has individual folders for each account. Its only the universal hub folder that has everything combined.

Switch to a none BB10 phone if you really hate it that much!
Z10.......er......BlackDroid in action!09-29-14 12:49 PMLike 0 - ThunderbuckRetired ModeratorI'm not going to run down the OP; people get used to working a certain way and sometimes it's hard to understand why you should have to change to accommodate a device.
In the OP's place, I'd simply set all the accounts to "Show as separate account", and then they'll only be seen in the "background" view and the messages won't be visible in the main Hub folder.
That doesn't give you the same thing as individual email icons, but perhaps using a utility like BeBuzz or Hub++ can provide different color lights for different accounts.

- Just do you don't think you've lost your mind, I pondered on this very thing myself when I first got my Z10. And I was also greeted with the same response you're seeing here. You can get half way there with a shortcut app like Shortcuts Creator, which let's you create individual shortcuts for all kinds of things including individual email accounts. Unfortunately, BBRY limits developer access to certain system features (like the splat), so they cannot include new message notifications on those shortcuts. I've since kind of gotten used to using the hub, setting it up to display only what I want to see -- because I hate the clutter of seeing everything too. Once you customize it for yourself, it actually is more productive than the old BBOS approach. Experiment with some of those settings, and I'll bet you'll find a setup that will work better for you.09-29-14 06:10 PMLike 0

I have a Z10, and I hate it. I dislike the Hub. I hate the limited app environment and I really dislike the keyboard.
Everyone on this place will line up to tell that those are the best things about BB10. If so, that is sad.
I still use the Z10 because until last month our IT group forbade us from having any device other than a BB.
That restriction was lifted last month ( which should tell you something about the future of BB) and I have ordered a new device, which is not a BB.09-29-14 06:14 PMLike 0 -
What stops me from switching to a 9900 or other OS7 device? Money. I ain't rich, and I refuse to spend more money on phones than I have to. I've got my Z10, and I'm married to it until my contract is up -- or later. So I'm trying to make the device work the best for me that I can. I consider it a bit of a challenge.09-29-14 06:19 PMLike 0 - Replies like this are a symptom of the problem with this place.

I will try this approach and see how it works for me. Thanks again!09-29-14 06:26 PMLike 0
