Hi guys...I have a old 9300. I need to transfer all my bbm contacts(without inviting them) over to my new Z10.............. as Normally.....I logged in with my BB ID on my Z10...and was expecting my contacts from my 9300 to be copied over...but no luck. PLZ Help..................

Did you have Protect on your 9300? Try doing the one-time restore process that's part of Protect on the Z10. Also, back in the day you would have to enable the contact list backup to your BBID email (within the BBM settings), anyone check to see if it's enabled in your 9300.

Blackberry protect does not save BBM contacts, does it?
Not on BB10, but it does on BBOS 7, 6 and 5 (maybe), along with a whole lot more (which is why people complain about the bare bones BB10 protect). The one time restore on BB10 tries to find and import your old BBOS protect data. Unfortunately you had to manually enable protect, so if you didn't,.. then it obviously won't work.

Sorry to burst you bubbles but blackberry protect has never backed up BBM contacts on BBOS 7, 6 and 5. The contacts that were backed up are from your phone book not BBM. Do a search and prove me wrong.
I used 8520, 9800 and 9930 and BBM contacts were never backed up. That was one of its flaws on BBOS.

Hmm,.. too long ago perhaps. Nevertheless, when they first started transitioning to an email BBID for BBM instead of using just PINs, BBM gave you an option to backup your contact list either locally (SD) or remotely (based on your email address). You had to manually enable this though, and lots of users never knew about it,.. which is why you would always have people mass emailing and/or Facebook posting that they got a new BlackBerry and had a new PIN. Eventually it was all based on your BBID.
