On my Blackberry Bold, I was able to choose the ringtone and how many times it would repeat, from 1-3. Seems all alerts only go off once now, am I missing something?

You must be. Mine will keep ringing until I answer it, or it times out and goes to voice mail. I think that is about 30~40 seconds.
Or is it I who is missing something?
