Reason for agonizing: According to their update BB OS and BB10 will now be supported till June 2017, and not till this Saturday any more as earlier announced. But EVERY time I open WA on my phone it warns me about the Dec 31, 2016 deadline?! I use a BB Bold 9790 on OS 7.1 Please help!!
Have you updated the app? The update should have reset the warning.
Thanks much for your answer! Nope, I haven't although there is a notification that I can select to update from 2.16.69 to 2.16.88. Reason I haven't is because I don't want any frills and WA is working fine as it is and some people have problems once they update. If I don't update will WA not recognise that my phone is a BB running on OS, or is that a silly question? :)

There is a kill date coded into the BB10 WA app so when they moved it from 12/31/16 to 06/17 they had to update the app version to reflect the change.
There is no functional difference between the app version so there shouldn't be any issues in updating. You can always hold onto 2.16.88 and see what happens on 01/01/17. The worst that can happen is WA doesn't work until you update.
Thanks so much for your response! Just to be 100% clear since I am not phone savvy at all -- I'll be fine till June 2017 even I don't update to 2.16.88 or is it safer to try update (BB 9790)?

It is best to update to 2.16.88, otherwise your app will expire and stop working in January.
