    Is the phone unlocked?
Is the phone blacklisted as in had been reported lost or stolen?

MM6 means the phone is not unlocked to the carrier/SIM you are trying to use or the phone was reported lost/stolen and has been blacklisted.

If the phone is unlocked to your carrier/SIM, but you still get the error code, then most likely the phone was reported stolen/lost and the carriers have blacklisted it.
As you got it from a pawn shop, it is highly likely it was reported.
Inform the pawn shop owner that the phone may be a stolen device and to refund your money.
