How do up update the ID?

You have to do a security wipe.

No need to wipe, go to settings, BlackBerry iD, edit and change your email.

You'll lose your bbm contacts. Make sure you save em
I changed mine under settings to reflect my new email address and didn't lose anything or have to wipe.
