Did you buy it from a carrier? If so, contact the carrier.

    Nope, unlocked online.

Works perfectly fine with my Carrier though.

Try this: on your PRIV the CHECKIN procedure enter the following exactly: *#*#CHECKIN#*#*
When finished wait a few minutes and then go into settings and check for updates. Let me know how it goes

Online unlocked, doesn't necessarily mean factory unlocked, with updates from BB. It could be a carrier unlocked device, which would work fine on another carrier, but not get updates.
First, make sure you are connected to good wifi. Then check for updates, Rico's answer, above, works when the update screen doesn't.
If that fails you could do an autoload, but you would need to know which one to use.
The Build # should tell you which update you need, but frankly I don't know how to look one up that up.

What does that actually do? I did that some time ago, but never understood what it actually does? (I don't have any probs, just asking the question)

    And I guess that one can't un-checkin

You can run an autoloader or put in a SIM from the carrier the phone is branded to.

What is the build number of your OS?

Where can I buy an AT&T SIM to just put in and check for updates?

To get the build number go to settings, about phone and scroll l down to the bottom, it's last on the list.

How did you suddenly find out it's AT&T?

The build number will determine that. It's on you settings / about page - at the bottom.

You have to borrow an active SIM.

Next question - Is it one of the orphaned AT&T Priv's adopted by BlackBerry, or originally sold by AT&T and still under their 'jurisdiction"?
That whole deal got pretty confusing, if it's the former, I'm not sure an AT&T SIM will do the trick.

I could be wrong, but if it's one that BB adopted, then I think he needs a specific update first. Then BB takes over.
