When I try and charge it the red led light comes on and then goes off after a few seconds. Then the screen turns white with a little clock in the middle of the screen. Then it goes off and the red led light comes back on. It repeats this cycle. I have removed the battery and tried it again but it does the same thing. Help please.

Try to ignore it over night charging. Just charge it. Don't react. Pulling the battery while the device starts could lead to damage. So be patient. Leave it charging WITH THE ORIGINAL CHARGER (no joke!!!) when you go to sleep, only look at it in the morning!

May be the battery is dead... any way to verify it? (switch with a friend/co-worker...)

    Good luck!
