maybe the screen was locked. Check it

I think you should try to reload the os. I can't see that being a hardware issue.

Unless there is an issue with the ir sensor which is what blacks the screen when you put it to your ear. If you have no issue with the device otherwise I think it might be worth looking into the ir sensor. This will be located near the top of the device by the ear piece.

I'm having the same issue on my Passport. I just tap the power button and it comes on. I didn't have the problem on my Z10 on 10.2.1.xxxx
