How can I know if my BB Z10 is IMEI blocked by the carrier?

I put a SIM card to a Z10, but it says "sim no detected", it is because a IMEI block? or maybe a Hardware issue?

Is it an unlocked device? Are you on the same network to which the phone is branded?
