Settings> Notifications> "your selected profile" (normal in my case)> App Notifications> Text Messages> "Tick" (turn on) Override profille button> crank it up...

Settings/Notifications.
From here you will need to know what Profile your device is using while in the holster. Tap that notification profile.
When in that profile's screen, tap Customize App Notifications/Text messages and turn on Override Profile Volume.
You can now change the volume for Text Messages only while in the Profile you selected.
Any changes made are saved when you exit the screen.
