It is not as bright as my notifications light on the right. My screen also seems hyper bright. I have turned my screen brightness down all the way and it till seems very bright. My battery is running down faster than ever before, even when I am not actively using my phone. One post I read suggested that there was a test I could run under Options, then Status and type 'test'. Unfortunately, I could not find Options and Status to be able to run this test. Another suggested pulling the battery, however, anyone with a newer phone knows that you can no longer 'pull' the battery.
I would appreciate any insight that can be provided. I can not afford to replace the phone, fixing it is necessary for me.
    Thanks !

no 1 thing you want to do it's to back up your data then try a hard reset (hold vol+ and - ) for 10 seconds
if that doesn't fix it you will have to reload the os

Sounds like your proximity sensor is turning on (red light).
Also your light sensor is malfunctioning...
    How's your front facing camera?

First thing first, try a simple device reboot.

Would be a good time to review your data backup plans...

Might try using BBVE to do a full hardware test.

As others have said doing a hard reset/reboot with the volume keys might reset it. If it's a software glitch, reloading the OS would be the next step. Then use BBVE before restoring any data.

But if it's hardware.. not an easy part to find these day.
