Why are you NOY using SSL? Also what happens if you merely enter your email address and select next? Have it auto detect.
Hi,thanks for the reply, I was told to try not using ssl and I've also tried to auto detect, it gets my contacts and calender but then stalls telling me that it can't get email and to try later..
Are you using POP or IMAP? If you have configured your Gmail account for IMAP (in the Gmail settings), you should be using port 993 for incoming server with the server address of imap.gmail.com and you should be using SSL. For outgoing, you should be port 465 with a server address of smtp.gmail.com and you should be using SSL.
Ok I will check that out
Yes all exactly as above, logged in to gmail, this time I got SMTP.gmail.com,port:465 can't be reached
Is anyone able to help with this please?
Do you have 2 factor authentication active on the gmail account? if so you need to add the bb in your managed authorized applications and use the password they give you to enter.
Hello, I don't think I do have but will look, when I first had a blackberry bold I had to use a blackberry address but thought as this one has direct gmail input or auto detect it wasn't needed. I do get contacts and calender, and the latest message some 10 mins ago was cannot add email at this time try later, I've had this same message for days. I've looked at gmail settings can't see any place to authenticate a phone .
On my gmail account I can see my blackberry is logged in on the recent activity page
so do you have 2-factor authentication on or not?
Aside from that you just put in your [email protected] account, password and connect, then it asks if you want calendar, contacts, email and you choose with ones, then you can change the time frame of how many emails you want it and it connects. I don't know what you are doing or not doing to help you.
Just to test this, I added a gmail acct that I don't have 2-factor authentication on and after putting in my email acct it sent me to the browser to log into my gmail acct to authenticate, so are you getting sent to that after putting in your gmail acct??
I do not have 2 factor on, and I do get to the browser and sign in , I can see that I am signed in on my computer, but don't get any sync with emails only contacts and calendar. From the gmail site I can see my blackberry has permission to access email, calendars, contacts.
Do you have your emails being filtered or moved in the GMail account itself? If you are getting contacts and cal then you have no setup issues per say. Have to look at the account directly to see if there is something else causing the issue.
Try validating your account here:

Thanks will look at that and try validating
I have no filter sect and account all verified
I presume that this email account had been working fine before correct?
If so, I would think there is but 1 option left. wipe, add this account, test.
Goes without saying to do a full backup if possible, cause if it still fails, then you most certainly restore as it wont introduce any new database corruption.
PS. Actually, do 2 or 3 backups. As the saying goes, can't have too many backups.
Thanks for that, I'm starting to think that it might be a fault at Tmobile, so I'm going to take it in to a shop , you are right it was working , and is working on another phone, this ipad, and computer so don't think any settings are wrong with gmail itself. I don't think I can sort it myself , just the basics, wiping is defiantly more than I could do, I've tried taking the battery out etc, think I'll now hand it over. Thanks for everyone's help though.
Tmobile have said it's nothing they can help with, so it appears it's to do with my Q10, I don't know what but it seems I need to wipe and try that, so my question is how does one wipe the phone?
Settings, Security and Privacy, Security Wipe - now mind you this could take hours depending on how much stuff you have on your phone.
