I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan from AT&T and use a Z10. The hotspot and tethering features are not available for me to use because of my plan.

I want to upgrade to the Priv and am considering buying an unlocked version. Can AT&T still bar me from certain features even if the phone is unlocked?

Yes they can, if you want to keep your unlimited plan. From what i gather from the atnt forums, this is NOT what they will do. They will instead kill your unlimited data plan and put you on a different one, and when you get your bill and call to complain, they'll be all, 'Too bad, So sad!' and there will be Nothing They Can Do. Really they dont like unlimited data plans and that's why they call them 'grandfathered.'

I cant say i blame them on that one, if I had an unlimited data plan i would sure try to keep it.
