I barely use apps, so my energy into it really depends on how much I want the app.

I downloaded SPORTS TRACKER, an apps to track your runs etc. It gets stuck on the message that I need google play services. Something I've been seeing more often lately in general.

Is there any easy way around that?
I read something about a patch, does that actually work?

    Any advise is appreciated!

It's not an easy thing, particularly for a beginner, but take a look at the first post in this thread:

Cobalt's official Google Apps landing page

BB10 was never intended or permitted to officially run Google Play Services, so this is a workaround.

I was browsing that a bit.

Those file links have to be downloaded from the phone or from my computer?

I am not a beginner, I am pretty technical. It's more the lazy factor on how long this will really take and is it worth it, AND WILL it actually work?

If you could tell me how to install the files, I might be tempted to try it.

Try Endomondo or Casca Run. Both native BB10 apps.

It's all laid out very clearly in the first post. Download and install directly to your device precisely as detailed. Then you will have to patch any apps that require Google Play Services using Lucky Patcher (also on your device). It's a lot of effort, but it generally works.
