If I use imap for syncing Gmail to my device z30 how old mails will be synced. I mean 1 week or one month or all the mails. Also should I use imap or exchange active sync for the mail account?

You can choose when you set the account up how far back you want to go - even have the option of forever

If gmail is your personal account use imap - use imap for all email accounts if you have the option.
If you have an acct that uses exchange active sync use that one.

I tried to go in the settings for syncing my mail but there is no option to sync period...it has the option for sync interval i.e. how quickly I want to sync...I will post a screen shot of the settings

Delete it and re-add it. It'll show the "initial retrieval" option.

You need to delete it and readd it and in the advanced section on set up you can change how far back you want to go.

Ok I deleted it and choose advanced settings...what does append to sent folder means? and I have to enter the account details only coz I don't know the smtp settings etc

You shouldn't have to edit any account settings as it should auto populate if you chose imap after inputting your username and password on the first page. Once you click advanced settings at the bottom you should see a screen like this at the bottom.

I chose Gmail not imap in advanced settings...and yes I got this screen. is it ok if choose Gmail or should I use imap from advanced settings
