Lately all my Gmail that I receive will arrive as a folder also.
I'm not sure if it's a setting I have changed, or something new from Google.
I get the same on both my accounts.

Can anyone shine some light on this?

I get the same with my gmail also on my Q10. It's a pain getting all emails twice.

I am not sure about your specific case, but the folder icon means that the email is not in the inbox, but a secondary folder that is also being synced. In my case, for example, I enabled my junk folder to be synced as well, so any junk email I get appears with the folder icon and not the envelope one.

In the specific hub view for the account, click on the account name (below the clock at the very top) to display the list of folders. You will see which ones are synced. You can then go into the three-dot menu and enable or disable folder sync.
