I believe it's completely wiped

Wipe. Which means factory reset for BlackBerry. It'll take at least 30 mins.

If you enabled BlackBerry Protect in the Settings then you can go to the BlackBerry Protect website, logon with your BBID and reset the phone password.
If not and you have to wipe then all data that is stored locally on the phone (device) storage memory will be wiped.
If you store your Contacts in a mailbox such as GMail, Outlook or Yahoo rather than on the phone they will still be there when you re-sync with the mailbox later on, as will the Calendar and Emails in the mailbox.
Text messages are only stored on the phone so will be wiped. Photos, Music and Videos stored in the phone storage memory will be wiped too.

Uh oh. Sorry to hear that. You phone will be wiped clean. This is a security feature so if you lose you phone, you don't lose your precious data.
This happen to me once so I know how painful it is.
