Regardless if saving to card or device , or taking photos or video , I encounter a bunch of gray boxes where my pictures should be when opening my picture app. If I tap one I get the message that the file is corrupt!
How can this be? I snap a picture and try to open it- period. Basically my camera is useless! Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Hello are you using an sd card? If you are is it set up external or shared memory? Have you tried taking out the sd card and connect to laptop?

I was using an SD card and thought that may have been the issue so I removed it and changed setting to save to device but same thing is happening.

When you take card out do images so up on say a laptop?

I wondered the same and did try. Got excited as image showed up as a tile but blank when clicked on. Frustrated. Ugh.

No matter what I get "file may be corrupt" message.

Not sure if card new or if you have lots of information. But if you can't open image on a laptop from card itself sounds like a corrupt card. Might have to format card and remove from device. Try using DTEK50 without card and see if taking pictures directly to phone works. But before you must format card in phone so settings are set to save back on your DTEK50. Always recommend to use brand quality cards there are lots of cheap and fake cards on the market.

Ok. It doesn't matter if I take pictures with an SD card inserted or without one and setting save to device. The same thing happens.

Ok. Have you tried a 32 second reset. Hold down power button for exactly that time. It simulates a battery pull...lets see what happens..
