If you meant BIS then passport doesn't require it.
Saying that, some carriers have no access to the BlackBerry APN, so you won't get data on 3G

No you don't need bes, Active sync corporate email works just fine. I will suggest getting BlackBerry bes cloud for 20$ a year. The Bes cloud will give you balance and that's awesome keeps your work separate from personal.

Email via Active Sync is enabled in all BlackBerry 10 OS devices. You will connect the same way as any iPhone or Android phone.
No need of BES.

It works great connecting to any EAS account without BES. I've had no issues at all with any of my BB 10 devices -- Z10, Z30, and now the Passport.
