Are you talking about Outlook as in Outlook.com, or Outlook the mail client in Office? I'm guessing you just mean the Office programme, in which case it will depend more on the type of email account you have (POP, IMAP, EAS) as to what you'll have sync without any additional steps.

The only thing that a BES connection is doing is using the native Exchange Active Sync that's built into the device and allowing access to a corporate network along with email. If your email account uses EAS (Outlook.com, and some other hosting services offer it as well), then you will have no trouble at all. If not, you may need to look at using Link, or very soon Blend, to do the syncing of calendar entries from Outlook.
