    When we were in Mexico vacation, the device was dropped into sea by my son when he was trying to take a picture for me. I jumped into the water and tried to rescue it but I failed. About 2 minutes later, it was rescued from the around 3 meters bottom by a safe guard. I removed the battery immediately and shook the device hardly to get the water out. Then I left the device without battery for 5 days. After I came back to Canada, I put the device on vent and hope it has been completely dried. Now I put back the battery. Will it recover???? Oh, yeah!!! Hooray!!! It recovers well!!! I am so happy that the pictures taken in the vacation are still here. Nice!!!

    Sea = salt water?

    If so.. corrosion are in progress. Use it as long as it works but don't trust it as "mission critical".

    Maybe it was the "salt" in the saltwater, but kudos to you my friend, I have heard nothing but horror stories from people who got their devices a lot less wet than yours.

    Suggestion: GO OUT RIGHT NOW AND PURCHASE A POWER BALL OR LOTTERY TICKET

    This. It may work for a while but if you haven't backed it up lately, you better do it while you can.

    I guess a lot of persons who get their device wet usually check the device immediately even it is still wet. That's the begining of the bad story. I trust BB can recover from wet if you make sure it is completely dried then turn it on after dried. But not sure if sea/salt water is same. Seems not bad, my device (I left the first msg) works well without any problem now. I guess someday I could try to disassemble it and see how's inside.

    This phone needs to be sent back to BlackBerry for testing. It seems to have evolved beyond the others

    No it doesn't.

    The device is out of warranty and there is no official repair for salt water.

    Op could disassemble it and wash the PCB in a proper chemical agent. Isopropyl alcohol is often used to clean after soldering so that *might* be fine but I'm not sure what's the best choice. The goal should be to stop corrosion.

    IMHO I would suggest using the device until it fails and the buy a new device. The costs of a new device exceeds the trouble of trying to "repair" it.
