The FM radio initially needs data to determine your location, but it is a standard FM radio: no data used for listening.

therefore you can only listen to radio in an area with a mobile signal, don't need a sim but need a signal of some sort for location.

You will not be able to use the radio is a region devoid of signal... stupid in my opinion, atleast use the gps as a backup...

I've turned data off & successfully used the FM radio.

It will time out, I was recently working in a mountainous are with patchy signal but good FM radio... after 20 minutes the radio asked for signal to geolocate again, useless...

I am sure it isn't too difficult for them to add the gps as a secondary location source...
