    =COUNTIF(D465, "N") : is a colon.

    Example of one I'm using. If just produces a zero. This is a spreadsheet coming from Excel 2010, xlsx.

    I see what you mean now. Countif is there, it works with numbers, but for some reason can't handle text strings.
